Time Management Tip

Peak performance in the work environment is usually pre-determined.

Last month, an employee survey revealed that the majority of employees (over 70%) performed best between the hours of 8 AM and noon. I have always felt and promoted that the peak performance period for most of us was approximately 2 to 2.5 hours after you got to your work environment.

Less than 18% of those surveyed stated that they performed at their best after 2 PM. It is important that you perform your high payoff activities when you are in your peak performance period and hold your least important projects for the afternoon.

Maybe we should ask Nike to change their slogan to: “Just Do It! – before lunch.

It seems that people always do tasks before lunch. One main reason is that the break for work makes people relax and then the food takes over the body. At my work we all take lunches at 1:00, so that if we all get there around 9:00am we all have at least 4 really productive hours before lunch.

Management actually bought a timesheet management software to see when most employees were going to lunch for this same exact reason.

A good way for management to keep track to projects, customers, and employees, is to use survey software with easy interface. Survey software will allow people ease and comfort so that they will answer more honestly. Don't turn someone into a survey monkey.
